NATIONAL MARITIME MUSEUM'S NEPTUNE COURT RE-OPENS

Summer 2013 saw the re-opening of the National Maritime Museum's most spectacular space, Neptune Court, transformed and enhanced thanks to Real Studios' new design and interpretation elements. This £1m scheme marks the culmination of Real Studios' strategic masterplan devised to bring greater legibility, clarity and impact to the Museum building, its themes and its exhibits. Devised in collaboration with the National Maritime Museum team, Real Studios' scheme has repositioned the atrium space's large exhibits and added new items to maximize their impact from any of the multiple levels via which this central space is accessed. Additional cues - for example, blue lighting elements designed to evoke an imaginary 'water line' - unify the collections visually. As part of Real Studios' masterplanning, Neptune Court's upper deck is now dedicated to the art and evolution of navigation, enhanced with maps, charts and globes.
