Having injected some contemporary glamour into Kensington Roof Gardens’ club for Virgin Limited Editions, we were asked to work our magic on the VLE’s rooftop restaurant, Babylon.

Our design drew its imagery and styling partly from the famous 1970s fashion brand Biba, which once occupied this Kensington building. In reference to this iconic brand, we combined bohemian prints, luxurious, patterned flock wallpaper and antique furniture with contemporary crystal chandeliers, discreet modern lighting and textiles.

The restaurant space itself is infused with shades of the luxe, leaf-tinted décor which is visually continuous with dining terrace and outdoor summer lounge. One of the highlights of this rooftop experience is an area planted as a natural meadow, complete with replica cow, and fringed by large planters filled with edible plants.
