'ANATOMY: A MATTER OF DEATH AND LIFE' IS COMING SOON!
We have been working closely with the National Museum of Scotland team to deliver this exhibition which will explore the history of anatomical study, from early examples of anatomical art to the Burke & Hare murders in 19th Century Edinburgh and the contrasting ethics, practices and beliefs of the present day.
Storylines will trace the social and medical history surrounding the practice of dissection as well as the relationship between anatomy, its teaching and cultural context and the bodies that were dissected. Object highlights include sketches by Leonardo da Vinci on loan from the Royal collection, a full-body anatomical model by pioneering model maker Louis Auzoux and William Burke's skeleton and written confession as well as the Arthur's Seat miniature coffins.
The exhibition runs 2nd July – 30th October 2022
